The track is the first single from the new Statik Selektah album.
On Friday, Statik Selektah dropped the first single from his new album, “Keep it Moving.” The track unites Nas, Gary Clark Jr., and Joey Bada$$. Stream the song below.
The album will reportedly feature the Griselda collective, 2 Chainz, Method Man, Dave East, and many more. In an interview with Complex, Statik revealed that he originally previewed the track at a Dave Chappelle show.
“I played the song for Dave Chappelle in the summer,” he said, “and he stopped the music at his afterparty and introduced it to the crowd, who all went crazy. It was a really dope moment and it was then when I knew this song was gonna be a time stamp on 2020. I’m so happy the world finally gets to hear it.”
Gary Clark Jr. adds his Grammy-winning guitar chops to the track, which came together after a visit to Sweet Chick.
“Nas, Joey and I linked up at Sweet Chick during Grammy weekend,” Statik continued, “and talked about making this record the first one that I present off my album.”
It’s been a productive year for Nas. Last month, he dropped King’s Disease, entirely produced by Hit-Boy. The project, led by the singles “Ultra Black” and “Spicy,” earned him his 14th top-ten appearance on the Billboard charts. Two months ago, he appeared on Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” remix, alongside Black Thought and Rapsody.
