Houston rap legend Scarface is updating fans on his condition a month after he revealed his own battle with the novel coronavirus COVID-19 and says he’s glad to be alive.
In a recent interview with fellow Geto Boy Willie D, Facemob reveals the same day he informed fans that he was diagnosed with COVID-19, he was enduring even more health issues while under quarantine.
“I fought the COVID, double bilateral pneumonia and kidney failure, all in my house,” Face says while hooked up to a blood stint to help regulate his kidneys.
“This my new lifeline,” he says of his dialysis port. “I gotta change my entire diet. I gotta do dialysis four times a week, three hours a day. That’s taking all of my blood out, cleaning it, and putting it back in my body. Before the COVID, I never had kidney problems before.”
Since his initial revelation, Scarface has been mostly mum on social media, occasionally checking in with friends as they streamed live on Instagram. Ice-T mentioned he spoke to Scarface earlier this week during a live stream for the Universal Hip Hop Museum Fundraiser and that The Diary rapper’s health had suffered greatly due to COVID-19.
Ice-T just gave an update on Scarface while appearing on this Hip Hop Museum fundraiser. Said he talked to Face today, and “He had kidney failure. He’s on dialysis now.”

COVID-19 has already claimed the life of one Hip Hop figure, New York’s Fred The Godson on April 23. Slim Thug was the first notable artist to reveal his diagnosis with COVID-19 but shared he recently tested negative after self-quarantining for two weeks.
