On Tuesday, Pusha-T released new single “Neck & Wrist” with JAY-Z and Pharrell Williams, which will be featured on his follow-up to Daytona.

After months of Pusha-T teasing his new collaboration with JAY-Z, “Neck & Wrist” is here. On Tuesday, Push tweeted about the song’s midnight release, also referencing a snippet of Hov’s lyrics from the upcoming single.

Also produced by and featuring Pharrell Williams, “Neck & Wrist” has garnered praise for Hov’s lyrics where he name-checks The Notorious B.I.G. and Faizon Love. In a 2020 interview with Vlad TV, Love discredited JAY-Z’s past of being in the drug game.

“Jay-Z creates this drug dealing drug lord, ‘I’m a drug dealer, I’m a drug lord.’ These kids are like, ‘We gotta do it, too.’ Not knowing that this is all made up shit,” Love said.

On “Neck & Wrist,” Hov claps back, rapping, “The phase I’m on, love, I wouldn’t believe it either/ I’d be like, “JAY-Z’s a cheater,” I wouldn’t listen to reason either.”

After the song was released, Pusha also announced the title of his upcoming album, It’s Almost Dry. Pusha also revealed tour dates.

Since February, Push has spoken about working with JAY-Z in various interviews, first discussing that the pair have multiple collaborations on his upcoming album, reportedly titled It’s Almost Dry.

“I got three songs with him now … something from my new album,” Push shared on podcast Million Dollaz Worth of Game. “I don’t know if I was supposed to say that, but I’m up with y’all, though, we here.”

In a recent interview with Complex, Push also mentioned that including himself, Hov is in his roster of top-three “coke rappers.

“Hov is first, because he made Reasonable Doubt, and that is the grail of all drug levels, without being all about drugs. It spoke more to the lifestyle,” Push said, revealing his all-time coke rap greats. “Lyrically, I’m going to say that I’m next. And I’ll say Jeezy is third, because I don’t believe there was a stronger moment in time than Trap or Die.”

Pusha also spoke more about collaborating with Hov on his new album. “I reach out to him because I know it’s something that I can’t say. It’s dope, and it should be inspiring when you hear it. To say some of the most outlandish shit, and it actually be true, that should be aspirational to all rap artists,” he said.
