Pre-Order Your Copy of The ‘Summer of Soul’ Soundtrack on Vinyl
The Summer of Soul soundtrack features 17 selections of live performances from the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival hand-picked by Questlove.
Legacy Recordings has announced a firm release date for the much-anticipated Summer of Soul soundtrack.
According to a press release, the album will hit digital and physical shelves on June 17th, featuring 17 selections from the live performances previewed in the award-winning documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, each of which is handpicked by the film’s director, Questlove. The vinyl edition of the soundtrack will be issued as a 2xLP set, which is available to pre-order ahead of the official drop.
Released in July of 2021 after premiering at Sundance Film Festival and taking home both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award, Summer of Soul chronicled the Harlem festival through the eyes of attendees and a prestigious line-up of performers, including Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & The Family Stone, B.B. King, Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The 5th Dimension, The Staples Singers, and more (many of which appear on the soon-to-arrive OST.) The film was crafted from both interviews with performers and beautifully restored footage of the festival that went unseen for more than 50 years. It is currently available to stream on Hulu and is set to arrive on Disney+ on February 8th.
