Playboi Carti fans are still waiting on his Whole Lotta Red album, but they at least have some new audio from him in the meantime.
The House of Givenchy has tapped the elusive rapper for their newest ad campaign and the first with new creative director Matthew M. Williams. In the 15-second spot, Carti raps various Givenchy pronunciations as images of new pieces from the luxury brand shot by Nick Knight come out of a printer.
Carti first announced Whole Lotta Red over a year ago as the as the follow-up to his 2018 debut album, Die Lit. In separate instances in both July of 2019 and October of that year, Carti hinted he’d be dropping the project in the near future, but nothing ever materialized.
In April of this year, he released the Jetsonmade-produced “@ MEH” as his first official single since 2018. Months later, however, Jetsonmade was put on blast by a fan who leaked DMs and a FaceTime call showing the producer was considering selling unreleased Carti music for Bitcoin.
Jetsonmade denied the accusation, but Carti affiliate Ken Car$on addressed the incident on social media and alluded to the finished album now being delayed because of it.
“thanks jetson , we were actually done,” he wrote. “o lord jetson sold another one.”
