Pharrell has hand-picked ten burgeoning artists to spotlight on a new project with SoundCloud, i am OTHER, Volume 1.

SoundCloud premiered the tape on Thursday (July 9), three months after they launched the #SCxiamOTHER campaign encouraging artists to submit music inspired by the current climate. With over 25,000 submissions worldwide, nine acts from across the U.S. and one from Berlin were chosen. All proceeds from the streams of the project will go to music-based charity organizations Sweet Relief and Help Musicians.

Their names are DLP & NSTASIA, thomboi, Mophead, Big Mont, Glvsshouse, Shaylin B., Dot Cromwell, Mike SB, Ruuth and Kota the Friend.

The two entities also announced a Volume 2 is already in the works, with more details to come.

“The world has continued to change since we first announced this compilation project,” they wrote in a statement. “People around the globe are joining together to fight for social justice and racial equality. To be part of the fight for longstanding change, SoundCloud and i am OTHER will continue to work together to elevate voices encouraging us all to stand up and speak out. Today we’re announcing i am OTHER, Volume 2—a new compilation project highlighting innovative work from emerging artists that promote messages of power, unity, and love. More details on i am OTHER, Volume 2 and how you can submit your tracks to be announced soon.”

Pharrell Grants 114 Harlem Students With Internships

Pharrell has also been back in the lab himself this year as part of The Neptunes. The pair produced two tracks on Megan Thee Stallion’s Suga EP, “Crying in the Car” and the Gunna-assisted, “Stop Playing.”
