The legendary producer shares a simmering new single from his upcoming album.

Pete Rock is just weeks out from the release of his much-anticipated new album, Petestrumentals 3.

Arriving on December 11th via the producer’s TruSoul Records imprint, the album marks the debut of Pete’s full-prestige live ensemble, The Soul Brothers, featuring Marcus Machado on guitar, Daru Jones on drums, MonoNeon on bass, Big Yuki on keys, and Jermaine Holmes on back-up vocals.

Today, the legendary producer shares a simmering new single from the upcoming project with the release of “Rejoice.” Anchored by warm keys, wah-ed guitars, and a laidback shuffle, the track is a syrupy and slow-burning instrumental with a lush groove and tons of late-night kush appeal. It arrives as the second single from the project, following “Say It Again,” which announced the new album last month. “I created ‘Rejoice’ in my basement as just a simple idea of a beat I made in my head. I listened to some jazz that day and heard something interesting and remembered it and just gave the band a direction reference; and they took it from there,” Pete notes on the track’s creation, speaking to Okayplayer via email.

The new Petestrumentals installment follows an appearance on Busta Rhymes new album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God and continues the legacy of a potent and critically-acclaimed instrumental series that began nearly two decades ago.
