The 2021 Grammy Award nominations arrived on Tuesday (November 24) and the list has elicited some intense reactions on social media.

For example, there are a handful of artists who people believe got snubbed, including The Weeknd who received zero nods for his Billboard 200 No. 1 album After Hours and zero nods for any of the singles from the project — “Heartless,” “Blinding Lights,” “In Your Eyes,” and “Save Your Tears.”

Lil Baby fans are also lashing out after his album My Turn failed to get a nomination for Album of the Year, although his track “The Bigger Picture” picked up a nod in multiple categories, including Best Rap Song.

But let’s talk about what did get nominated, specifically in the Best Rap Album category. Some of the nominees came as a surprise to rap fans, especially D Smoke whose Black Habits project was included alongside Royce Da 5’9’s The Allegory, Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist’s Alfredo, Jay Electronica’s A Written Testimony and Nas’ King’s Disease.

And while Pop Smoke’s posthumous album Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon wasn’t included on the list — which 50 Cent initially predicted — the late rapper did receive a nod in the Best Rap Performance category for “Dior.”

Nickle Nine was one of the first MCs to react to his Best Rap Album nomination. Shortly after they were announced, he shared a screenshot of the category and wrote simply, “Wow.”

Check out the post below and tune in for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on January 31.
