Meek Mill hasn’t dropped an album since 2018’s Championships, but there’s at least one person who’s itching to hear some new material from the Dream Chasers rapper — Drake. On Thursday (October 15), Meek posted an Instagram photo of himself leaning on a black Bentley with the caption, “Spur of the moment.”

Taking notice, Drake hopped in the comment section and encouraged him to drop something fresh, writing, “Drop Pain Away.” Snippets of the song have been floating around the internet for the past few weeks, drumming up some interest in new Meek music.

But just because Meek has been more focused on criminal justice reform than music these days, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been paying attention. On Friday (October 16), the Philly native applauded Drake and rising Alabama rapper Yung Bleu for their “You’re Mines Still” collaboration, which arrived this week.

“@bleuvandross ft @champagnepapi big hit!!!” he captioned the single art. “stayed true to your grind & still going up!”

In an interview with Complex, Yung Bleu explained how an NBA player was instrumental in making the Drake collab happen.

“What originally happened is that DeMarcus Cousins reached out to him,” he said. “Cousins reached out to me saying that he was loving the EP and he was saying, ‘Man, I can hear Drake on this one. I can see Drake on this one. I love this one.’ And I was like, “Yeah, that would be real hard.” But I wasn’t thinking anything about it. I’m just like, ‘Oh, that’s like some shit that ain’t but a wish.’ So it wasn’t a real thought in my head, you know what I’m saying?

He continued, “Three days later though, Cousins had sent me a screenshot of Drake saying, ‘Send the record.’ So I had sent them the record and after a little while, I thought that he probably didn’t like it or hear it for real, so I just forgot about it. Then he wrote me on Instagram with the message that I posted and said “Let’s do the remake.” I said, ‘Hell yeah.’ And I just sent his team the song.”
