Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff died today of unknown causes at the age of 50.

Magoo was known for being half of the duo Timbaland & Magoo, which dropped three albums between 1997-2003.

Their first album, Welcome To Our World, went platinum and featured the Top 20 hit ‘Up Jumps da Boogie.’

Magoo met Timbaland when they were teenagers, and they soon became members of the informal Da Bassment Cru collective. While Magoo didn’t have the incredible individual success his partner did, he will be remembered fondly by rap fans of a certain age.

RIP.
