Rihanna has shared a teaser of her song “Lift Me Up” that will be featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

We’re just days away from new music from Rihanna. On Tuesday night (October 25), Marvel Studios shared a short clip on social media, confirming that the Bajan singer will be on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. It has been announced that she’ll make her long-awaited return to music on Friday, with the artist teasing the track, “Lift Me Up,” Wednesday afternoon. Co-written by Rihanna, Tems, Ludwig Göransson and Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler, the song is partially a tribute to Tems’ deceased loved ones.

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” said Tems. “Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

The news comes amid recent reports that Rih will have two songs on the forthcoming album, which will be released on November 4.

New music from Rih comes six years after the release of her highly praised 2016 album Anti, which received Grammy nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Recording Package. In a Vogue interview from April – where the singer announced that she was expecting her first child with partner A$AP Rocky – Rihanna confirmed that a new album was in the works.

In February next year, the singer will be the headlining act for the Super Bowl LVII halftime show at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Although unconfirmed, it has recently been reported that the singer will also embark on a stadium tour in 2023. On Wednesday, November 9, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol. 4 fashion show will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters on November 11. The inaugural Black Panther movie, which released in 2018, was accompanied by a curated “inspired by” album from Kendrick Lamar, with guest appearances from Vince Staples, Future, Jay Rock, Travis Scott, SZA, The Weeknd and more.
