DJ Akademiks was surprised to get a call from Lil Durk, who’s locked up without bail on murder-for-hire charges.

Smurk was upbeat during their conversation.

“I’ve been good, man. Mentally, spiritually, I’ve been on top of my sh*t. I’ll be back out there, you hear me? Oh, thank you, I need all the prayers. I appreciate you,” Smurk said. “Yeah, you know, ain’t nothing changed, bro. I’ve just been focused on life, my family and stuff like that. I’m trying to learn to speak Arabic in here. It’s a couple of guys in here that know how to speak Arabic fluently. So I’m just learning the different words and tightening up my Arabic. Just getting my knowledge together.”

Durk’s trial is set to begin on October 14.

There’s a chance he could get bail before then.

Smurk’s bond status is under reconsideration after federal prosecutors reportedly submitted false evidence involving Quando Rondo & Lul Pab, which was later revealed to be from fan-edited videos.
