One of the most popular memes in recent memory is a photo of Young Thug showing Lil Durk something on a computer screen. The picture taken from a studio session was originally posted by Durk in June 2018, but the jokes are still flying in to this day.

The Chicago rapper recently took to Twitter to acknowledge a viral tweet that used the photo with the caption, “Whatever he showed Durk this night made that nxgga evolve.”

“He showed me 20million,” Durk said in the replies.

The original tweet, which has over 10,000 retweets and almost 50,000 likes, was posted alongside a screenshot of Durk with Drake in their “Laugh Now Cry Later” music video.

Drizzy and Durk’s single has been a success following its August 14 release, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and currently sitting at No. 3. The video starring athletes like Kevin Durant, Marshawn Lynch and Odell Beckham Jr. also has over 107 million views on YouTube.

Despite what Durk said, the rappers were actually tracking vocals in the famous photo. In a direct message on Twitter, Durk revealed to The Fader that they were looking at the music software Pro Tools.

Aside from rapping, Thug is also skilled behind the scenes according to his longtime engineer Alex Tumay, who has worked on albums like Kanye West‘s The Life of Pablo, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin‘s Savage Mode, Travis Scott‘s Days Before Rodeo and Thug’s So Much Fun.

“Since I don’t record him as much, he finds it easier to make arrangement changes himself than to try to explain it all to an engineer he’s less familiar with,” Tumay said.

Speaking on the meme, he added, “I’m sure he was actually moving vocals around and getting the timing right/arrangement right. He’s also gotten pretty proficient with volume automation.”
