Atlanta, GA – The coronavirus pandemic is continuing to spread across the globe, causing a panic-driven society to buy up all the toilet paper, hand sanitizer and other essentials, leaving many without. But there are some who are looking out for their fellow humans — even those who are often cast aside by the rest of the world.

Case in point, Lecrae is reportedly helping to install several portable hand-washing stations for the homeless population in Atlanta. According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, the faith-based MC has linked up withthe non-profit organization Love Beyond Walls in an effort to provide better hygiene to those stuck on the streets.

Love Beyond Walls executive director Terence Lester and the Grammy Award-winning artist have known each other for years and Lester was happy to help. The installations began on Thursday morning (March 19).

“When the pandemic hit, I thought, ‘What is the homeless community doing about these warnings,’” Lecrae explained. “We spent a good amount of time putting them around Hurt Park. It’s a major city and in a major city, like this, it speaks very loud. The love is loud, appreciation is loud, but the problems are loud as well. The city has shown me so much love, so I wanted to be sure to show it back.”

Each station holds five gallons of water and has a soap dispenser connected to it. Both the soap dispensers and water can be refilled, and the stations can be relocated if deemed necessary.

Speaking on the coronavirus pandemic, Lecrae pointed out the silver lining of social distancing, saying, “This is a good opportunity to slow down — appreciate family and friends and find ways to slow down and lean in.”
