The Butterfly Effect, the first biography about Kendrick Lamar, has a release date. Author Marcus J. Moore and publisher Atria Books have announced the book is scheduled to hit stores on October 13.

“After almost two years, I can thankfully say this: The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America is out 10/13 @AtriaBooks,” Moore wrote Twitter, alongside a photo of the book’s cover art.

Moore is a veteran journalist who previously served as an editor for Bandcamp Daily. His written work has appeared in media outlets such as The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, NPR, Pitchfork and the BBC. Atria Books is a division of publisher Simon & Schuster.

The Lamar biography is described as “the definitive account of his coming-of-age as an artist, his resurrection of two languishing genres (bebop and jazz), his profound impact on a racially fraught America and his emergence as the bona fide King of Rap.”

Pre-orders for The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America are available now. Hardcover copies are being sold for $27 on Amazon and Simon & Schuster’s online store, though prices may vary at other booksellers.
