JoJo wasn’t expecting to compete with Drake when she dropped her Good To Know album on Friday (May 1). But Drizzy threw her — and everyone else putting out projects this week — for a loop with the surprise release of his Dark Lane Demo Tapes.

The R&B singer reacted by tweeting “Damn Drake” when the OVO star snatched away the spotlight from her first studio LP in four years. Although JoJo’s album ceded attention to Drizzy’s unexpected project, she got a nice consolation prize from a diamond-selling legend.

Following the LP’s release, Mariah Carey promoted JoJo’s project with a Twitter shoutout on Friday.

“Loving @iamjojo’s new album #GoodtoKnow!!” she wrote. “Congratulations dahhliiing!!! check it out everybody!!”

“What queen said!!!!!!!!!!!” she exclaimed. “Wow. God is really smiling on me tonight.”

JoJo’s Good To Know is her first studio album since leaving Atlantic Records. The nine-track project was released through Warner Records as part of a partnership with her Clover Music imprint.
