Brooklyn, NY – Ahead of the release of his newest project, Joey Bada$$ has a hint of what to expect. On Thursday (July 16), the Brooklyn rhymer took to Twitter to announce his forthcoming three-song bundle The Light Pack will put an end to the mumble rap era.

“This is mumble rap extermination,” he wrote. “This is godly interpolation.”

The Light Pack is set to be released Friday (July 17), and Joey wants to make it clear the short project is not an EP.

“Don’t call it an EP, I hate that,” he wrote on Twitter earlier this month. “It’s 3 songs, bundled together. #TheLightPack.”

In his announcement, he promised The Light Pack will serve the “Mind, Body & Soul” of his listeners and added he chose three songs to signify the three years it’s been since his last effort, 2017’s All-Amerikkkan Bada$$. Featuring J. Cole, ScHoolboy Q, Styles P, reggae artist Chronixx, Flatbush Zombies’ Meechy Darko and his Pro Era artists Kirk Knight and Nyck Caution, the album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 album-equivalent units.

Fans may not get an album like All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ again, however, as he previously denounced projects with more than 14 songs.

“The thing with this project is everyone’s going to be satisfied, and not in a way where it’s too many things on the menu,” he said in an interview on May 5. “I’m definitely not that type. You come to my restaurant, motherfucker, it’s like 10 options. I hate when motherfuckers put out an album longer than 14 songs. Nobody wants to fucking listen to that.”
