EarthGang member Olu recently participated in a Dreamville Records Instagram Live session and confirmed J. Cole’s sixth studio album is indeed on its way. He explained there’s been a slight delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Cole album is coming,” he said. “It’s in [U.S.] Customs [and Border Protection] right now. Cole album gotta get through [U.S.] Customs [and Border Protection] ’cause you know, corona.”

If anyone is wondering what U.S. Customs and Border Protection has to do rap albums, the organization is tasked with inspecting products, goods and more entering the U.S. to ensure banned agricultural products and counterfeit goods aren’t being imported.

As noted on the CBP’s official website, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is working closely with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other federal, state, and local agencies to support the whole-of-government effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep everyone safe.”

Cole’s latest solo effort, KOD, arrived in 2018 and featured one sole “guest” spot from Cole’s alter-ego KiLL Edward.

The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 397,000 total album equivalent units sold in its first week. It also broke streaming records on both Apple Music and Spotify. It was also deemed HipHopDX’s 2018 Album Of The Year not long after its release.
