Gillie Da Kid spoke about his son YNG Cheese being shot and killed during a recent interview on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay.

The 25-year-old was tragically gunned down in Philadelphia in July 2023. Gillie said that he was later told by police that 17-year-old basketball phenom Noah Scurry killed his son.

Gillie received the news after Scurry was murdered last month outside of his home in front of his mother, one day after releasing his first rap song. [Jump to the 2:27:40 mark]

“I never met him,” said Gillie about Scurry. “Only reason I knew is because the police called me and told me once he was murdered. ‘Cause the kid had just got shot 17 times. He was walking with his mom, and he got murdered. Then the police notified me and let me know that he was one of the kids that was pretty much about to get locked up for the murder, but he got murdered first … He had to deal with God, that’s how I look at it.”

The rapper-turned-podcast host said that his son was not the intended victim and was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“My son’s not from that block,” Gillie explained.
