Gangsta Gibbs and Uncle Al bring “Scottie Beam” to late night.

Approaching a year since its release, Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist‘s Grammy campaign for Alfredo will finally come to a close tomorrow at the 63rd annual awards ceremony.

Which makes plenty of sense, given their nomination for “Best Rap Album” and the rollout declaring just that throughout the promotional run. And last night, the duo doubled down, bringing “Scottie Beam,” a lushly soulful and hazed-out Alfredo highlight, to The Tonight Show. But instead of a standard performance, Gangsta Gibbs and Uncle Al suited up and gathered around the dinner table to properly toast to the album’s success and potentially still incoming accolades with wine and, what else but, some fine Italian fare.

Should they take home the Grammy tomorrow night, it will be the first of either of their careers. They’ll contend with NasKing’s Disease, D Smoke‘s Black Habits, Royce Da 5’9“‘s The Allegory, and Jay Electronica‘s long-delayed debut album, A Written Testimony (which earned Alchemist a second nomination for his production on “The Neverending Story.”) The competition is stiff and the Recording Academy tends to overcorrect for past blunders, but Alfredo is still far from an underdog given the scale of its critical reception in 2020. Released in May of last year, the album featured contributions from Tyler, The Creator, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, and Rick Ross (who sat out the late night appearance,) the joint project topped just about every year-end list of rap albums.

Watch Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist perform “Scottie Beam” on The Tonight Show below and head over to Alfredo‘s merch page to pick up the latest round of tees, hoodies, caps, jackets, vinyl, and more. Tune into the 63rd annual Grammy Awards tomorrow night to see if they walk away with the golden gramophone.
