Manhattan, NY – Pras appeared in a Manhattan court for a child support hearing on Monday (March 9). According to Page Six, the former Fugees MC reportedly owes Angela Severiano — his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his 9-year-old son Landon — roughly $125,000.
In January, the Hip Hop vet was mandated by a court order to pay $20,000 of the outstanding debt and provide evidence of payment. Although he brought a tracking number showing he had a friend send the money, he was ultimately unable to prove it.
“If I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t say it happened,” Pras said to the judge to which the judge replied, “That’s not what I consider proof. You do not even know what day it was sent.”
Consequently, he was arrested immediately after the hearing for failure to make a payment. The New York City Department of Corrections shows Pras paid his bail and was released the same day.
Following the hearing, Pras’ lawyer Samuel Feldman said, “What can I say? He says he made the payment but he didn’t have enough proof to satisfy the judge. Hopefully, somebody will send me further documentation and then maybe I’ll advance the case.”
Pras claimed he fell behind on the $4,800 monthly payments after feds seized $74 million of his money for an alleged money laundering scheme related to Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign. He denies all charges.
