Rising rapper Erica Banks officially announces she has signed a record deal with Warner Records in partnership with Houston’s 1501 Certified Entertainment.

Erica Banks’ single “Buss It” has received a remix featuring an appearance from Houston native Travis Scott.

The remix comes as no surprise as the original cut recently garnered traction thanks to thousands of #BussItChallenge videos that were posted on TikTok. Tracee Ellis Ross and Gabrielle Union even participated in the challenge, others who also did included Monica and Rico Nasty.

Directly after Nelly’s “Hot in Herre,” Travis hops on the beat and raps about twerking, his luxurious life stacking money, and alludes to someone being thick thanks to their BBL (yes). The bars take us back to his Owl Pharaoh days.

Recently in an interview with Okayplayer, Banks shared she had no idea the DJ Sgt J-produced track was going to pop off the way it did. “Initially I didn’t like the song when it was completed so having it go viral wasn’t something I thought about like that,” she shared. The single was originally released back in 2020 as a part of Banks’ self-titled debut EP. Last month the #BussItChallenge had over 441 million views on TikTok.

As for Travis Scott appearing on the remix for the popular song she shared the following per Complex, “It’s so crazy. I got a phone call, and the phone call was like, “Yo, I’m about to send you this song. I’m about to play this song for you. Tell me what you think.” I’m not knowing what I’m about to listen to.” She adds, “So I hear “Buss It,” but I hear [Travis Scott] on it. I’m just wowed. I’m like, “What the hell is going on? How did he even get this song?” That’s how I found out, through a phone call of somebody calling me and telling me.”

On Thursday to top off the successful year she’s currently experiencing the Houston rapper announced she signed a deal with Warner Records in partnership with 1501 Certified Entertainment. We’re excited for what’s next for the rising rapper star, as of right now it looks like she’s gearing up for a takeover.
