Compton, CA – Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine undoubtedly have a few extra dollars to spare. So like any decent music moguls would do, they’re pooling their funds together to provide COVID-19 relief to the city that put Dre on the map — Compton, California.

According to The Press Telegram, Dre and Iovine’s donation will provide more than 145,000 free meals for residents in need and pay for coronavirus tests.

“Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine have always been great advocates and supporters of the City of Compton,” Compton Mayor Aja Brown said in a statement. “Increasing access to food and vital healthcare are some of the most important ways we can make an impact for our community in this time of need.”

City officials state 156 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Los Angeles suburb.

“As issues like unemployment, food insecurity and lack of COVID-19 testing sweep the nation, I hope that this contribution will inspire others to take action, get involved and support their neighborhoods in any way they can,” Brown continued. “Even in a time of social distancing, this contribution is a strong testament to how we can still come together to support the communities we love.”

Diddy Tells Fat Joe An Instagram Live Battle With Dr. Dre Is In The Works

In 2015, Dre announced he would donate the proceeds from Compton: A Soundtrack to build a performing arts center at Compton High. Two years later, he made good on his promise and donated $10 million to the cause. The center is set to break ground this year.

Meanwhile, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are trying to get Dre and Diddy to commit to an Instagram Live battle. On Friday (April 24), Diddy confirmed to Fat Joe they were “talking about it.”
