Chance The Rapper was in a nostalgic mood on Thursday (February 20) as a lot of people are on the unofficial #ThrowbackThursday weekly holiday — and he wasn’t going to let anybody ruin it.

The Chicago philanthropist decided to share a video clip on Instagram featuring a much younger Lizzo interviewing him for a Minneapolis-based magazine called GreenRoom in 2012. Throughout the caption, he praised her for becoming the international star she is today.

“#tbt anybody recognize the woman interviewing me?? Give you a hint we’re playing the same Houston festival in a couple weeks and have the same number of GRAMMYs. Guys, this video is so dope to see. It was 2012, a year before Acid Rap even dropped, and I was being interviewed for a small magazine in Minneapolis called GreenRoom, right after a small show I was playing.

“I remember it like it was yesterday and it was EIGHT years ago. Wow man. I’ve watched Lizzo work her ass off to become the biggest act in the world and it was nothing but her and her day 1 bestfriends’ hard work, and her own God given Talent. I am immensely proud of her and so inspired by her journey. Life is crazy. Tag someone you believe is one day gonna be a superstar.”

While the initial comments were positive, it didn’t take long for someone to call Lizzo “classless.”

An Instagram user who goes by @jxrdxn was quickly hit with the block button when she said, “She’s classless. Surprised you would endorse her,” to which Chance replied, “@jxrdxn good job ur blocked.”

He added a prayer hands emoji at the end to complete the jab.

Chance The Rapper Blocks Hater Trying To Ruin His Lizzo Throwback Thursday Shine

Lizzo has faced an onslaught of criticism for her consistently racy attire and nude Instagram photo shoots. She prefers to perform in skimpy leotards and has no qualms about it. When criticized for her image, Lizzo typically stands up for herself.

Last December, Dr. Boyce Watkins tweeted about Lizzo’s weight and she fired right back.

“Lizzo is popular is because there is an obesity epidemic in America,” he wrote. “Rather than encouraging people to do better, we are simply lying to them and telling them that they are just fine the way they are. Unfortunately, many of these people are dying from diabetes and heart disease.”

The Grammy Award winner replied, “I’m popular because I write good songs and I’m talented and perform high energy hour and a half shows filled with love. The only person who needs to do better is you. Keep my name out ya mouth & look in the mirror before you come for me. Here’s the attention you ordered.”
