Phoenix, AZ – After seven grueling years on dialysis, Blackalicious MC Gift of Gab finally underwent a double kidney transplant at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona earlier this month — but recovery hasn’t exactly been easy.

A minor setback sent him back to the ER shortly after the surgery and he’s been attempting to juggle bills, recovery and his music career simultaneously. Subsequently, he’s been forced to extend the GoFundMe campaign until he can get back on his feet.

As part of the campaign, Gab will give out a free song called “The Fastest Story Ever Told” from an exclusive EP called Offerings. He also announced a contest for animators and revealed anyone who’s donated to the campaign will get their name included on his forthcoming album Finding Inspiration Somehow.

“I am extending and raising the goal of the GoFundMe due to unforeseen expenses,” Gab explains to RealStreetRadio. “Anyone who goes to the GoFundMe site will receive a free song from the exclusive EP called ‘The Fastest Story Ever Told.’ To all animators, I’m also running a contest. Submit your video for the song and the best one will be the official video and you will be credited.

“Also, anyone who has donated or donates from the beginning to the end of the campaign will get a shout out on the thank you’s of my upcoming album Finding Inspiration Somehow. Once again, thank you for all the support and love!!!”

In a video sent to DX, Gab explained he wouldn’t be able to perform again until June. Watch it below and donate to the GoFundMe here.
