Exclusive – Cypress Hill frontman B-Real and former Pimp My Ride host Xzibit linked up with Los Angeles-based rapper Demrick earlier this year for a new Serial Killers project called Summer of Sam. The album was laser focused on the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting quarantine Americans have been forced to endure.

During an interview with HipHopDX Senior Writer Kyle Eustice, B-Real was talking about the Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. collaboration “911” featuring himself and Eminem when he inadvertently revealed Slim Shady was in his Top 3 list of greatest rappers of all time.

When pressed for the other two, Dr. Greenthumb replied, “Well, my top three rapper list would be — you know, it always KRS-One at the top, Eminem and then JAY-Z as rappers go. [Public Enemy’s] Chuck D is in there for sure, but my Top 3 is those guys right there.”

Xzibit was asked the same question but took a more comedic approach with his answer, saying, “Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan,” a reference to the famous Chappelle’s Show skit spoofing Diddy’s MTV show Making The Band. B-Real quickly chimed in with, “He’s the fucking greatest, man. How did I not know that?”

All jokes aside, B-Real and X have been intently dedicated to their individual endeavors while the concert industry lays dormant due to the raging pandemic.

B-Real is working on opening another Dr. Greenthumb’s Dispensary in the Los Angeles area, his B-Real TV platform and a cannabis-friendly podcast called The Dr. Greenthumb Podcast. He also has another album coming out with his Cypress Hill brethren as well as a solo project that’s expected to arrive in February.

And like B-Real, X has his own studio so he’s able to crank out music whenever he feels like it. Meanwhile, he’s also launched his own cannabis line Napalm Brands. He also plans on releasing his long awaited King Maker album.

“Once everything happened with COVID and the ivil unrest, Serial Killers took precedence,” X explains. “So, we had to get that taken cared of and now, we rolling into the 20th year anniversary of Restless, so we got some special coming out in December for that and then at the  top of next year, I’d like to drop King Maker.”

Until then, revisit the Serial Killers album Summer of Sam below.
