Here’s something that shouldn’t be surprising: Fans of Kendrick Lamar liked his Super Bowl halftime show and those who prefer Drake or Lil Wayne over the Compton rapper didn’t.

Just look at social media. There seems to be just as many people who praised Dot’s performance compared to the people who dissed it.

TDE President Punch Henderson weighed in on the debate and distinguished between what Hip Hop does and what’s done outside of Hip Hop when it comes to entertainment.

“Seeing all of the commentary surrounding the Super Bowl performance, it’s showing that we lost sight of what we’ve always fought for… to be who WE ARE as artist of Hip Hop Culture,” tweeted Punch. “Since when did we want to fit in with the mainstream?? lol. Sure we want the mainstream platforms, but only to do US. Authentically us. That’s what always made Hip Hop so appealing.”

Is Punch right on this or way off?
