Drake has made a wild allegation against his own label.

Today, he announced his intention to sue Universal Music Group and Spotify for using botting, payola, and other illegal tactics to boost the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us.”

This evening, UMG responded to the filing:

“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue.  We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns.  No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can make the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear,” UMG said in a statement.

Drake intends to sue under the RICO Act, the New York State Deceptive Business Act, and the New York State False Advertising Act.
