About a decade ago, Young Money was the hottest imprint in the game.

That’s because of Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj.

During a stop on the All The Smoke podcast, Weezy discussed how he met his two young charges.

First Nicki:

“I wanted a New York female rapper.  I wanted to make sure she had two things.  She was missing, lacking, two things.  Do not sound like Foxy [Brown] do not sound like [Lil] Kim.  And when I heard Nick, Nick was sounding like me.  She was changing her voice up.  I was like, ‘Ok, I ain’t never seen this.’  This is rare air … and you ready to talk this weird sh*t too?  That crazy sh*t like me?  You perfect.”

As for Drake …

“Drake was first from my little bro Jas Prince, J. Prince’s son.  He had Drizzy, brought Drizzy to me.  ‘You gotta hear this n*gga.’  It was over for me once I heard him.  I wasn’t even paying attention to the rapping sh*t.  I was like, ‘He sing?  This is him on hooks?’  Cuz I thought it was someone else on the hooks on the song that was just playing. “
