Wiz Khalifa is a huge Max B fan. He spoke about it in the past and even got into a famous spatĀ with Kanye West when Ye was planning to name his 2016 album Waves.

Max is credited with inventing a type of rap called “wave” so Wiz thought Ye was overstepping back then.

Now, in a newly released interview on Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’ podcast, Wiz spoke more about his love for Max and explained why he’s been such a fan. [Head to the 42:26-mark]

ā€œI love Max B, his attitude,ā€ said Wiz. ā€œHe just had a really dope, just real in-your-face, real confidence. I looked up to that. I look up to his melodies, like how he mixed melody and rap. And his consistency too. Dude had like 28 mixtapes before he went to jail. At that point in my life it was like, that’s a dude that I can relate to because I’m like man, I’m tryna go that hard too. I want to be in peoples’ faces too.”

“I’m that confident about my music as well. He was like, really still an underground artist but people like me and Curren$y and a couple other people, we really gravitated towards him and seen the polish in all of that,” he added.

Max is still in prison after being sentenced to 75 years for a 2006 robbery. But French Montana said he’ll be home this month.
