Snoop Dogg and Eminem are set to perform their new collaboration “From the D 2 the LBC” during the MTV VMAs 2022 on Sunday.

Snoop Dogg and Eminem are bringing Detroit and Long Beach City to the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 on Sunday. The protégés of Dr. Dre are set to perform their new single “From the D 2 the LBC” on Sunday night. Airing live during the ceremony held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the set is billed as “a first-of-its-kind performance … inspired by the world of the Otherside metaverse.”

To bring the metaverse-inspired performance to life, MTV partnered with Yuga Labs. While Otherside is a virtual gaming world that has not yet been fully developed, the metaverse world is designed to use NFTs and ApeCoin cryptocurrency.

Although the rappers last performed together live during the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in February with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, with special guests 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak, “From the D 2 The LBC” marks Snoop and Em’s first VMA performance together since 1999. That year, the two joined Dr. Dre for a live performance of Em’s “My Name Is,” “Guilty Conscience” along with Dre’s and Snoop’s legendary collaboration “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang.”

Em last performed at the VMAs in 2010 with Rihanna for “Love the Way You Lie” and solo for “Not Afraid.” In 2005, Snoop and Diddy paid tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. at the VMAs with “Juicy” and “Warning.”

Directed by James Larese, the video for “From The D 2 The LBC” features animated versions of Snoop and Em as NFT-esque characters in a comic book, along with shots of the two rappers in reality.
