Pusha T has finally released his highly anticipated new album It’s Almost Dry nearly four years after the release of his critically acclaimed album Daytona.

Pusha T, the rapper, who has grown accustomed to being known as the king of “coke rap,” has made his return. The album, which is perfectly titled It’s Almost Dry, is limited with features from selected artists, such as Lil Uzi Vert, Kid Cudi, and JAY-Z while Pharrell and Kanye West (or Ye) splits the production duty. Since the 2018 release of Daytona, Pusha T’s life has been altered by the passing of his parents and becoming a father in June 2020. With the help of longtime friend and collaborator Pharrell, the two began working on the album as Pusha recalled in a recent interview with Complex. “I was like, ‘Man, you know what? Let’s just cook up while there are no expectations. Nobody’s thinking about us.’”

On his quest to become the “Martin Scorsese of Street Rap,” as proclaimed in his recent Interview Magazine article, Pusha opted for more regality in his approach towards storytelling and lyricism as displayed on singles “Neck & Wrist” and “Here Me Clearly.”

Throughout the roll-out for the album, Pusha’s interviews with multiple outlets and media like Charlamagne that God, Hot 97, and Complex have allowed the veteran rapper to embrace his mixtape love for rap and step out of his comfort zone.

During his “Cokechella” themed album listening party, clips of Push’s menacing ego and conscious perspective showcased his elevated creativity and perspective as pushed by his friend and album executive producer Pharrell.

Leading up to the release of the album, Pusha made appearances on The Breakfast Club, Hot 97, and was featured with manager Steven Victor on the cover of Billboard’s The Managers Issue. While most rappers narrate the journey of coming into “the game” and the troubles of walking away, as showcased last night during his performance of “Dreamin Of The Past” with The Roots on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Pusha T is all in.
