Silk Sonic offers another single from their soon-to-be-released album, An Evening with Silk Sonic.

Silk Sonic continues to go full retro with their latest single, “Smokin’ Out the Window.”

The track is like the duo’s debut single, “Leave the Door Open,” offering a steady and downtempo groove. However, “Smokin’” finds the duo heartbroken and hurt over a love that’s come to an end. Despite how sad it sounds, a good portion of the lyrics are actually hilarious, with all of the scenarios the pair’s lovers have put them in leaving them stressed out and, well, stress-smoking cigarettes (while still looking incredibly dapper).

The duo, made up of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, will be dropping An Evening with Silk Sonic, on November 12. The album will be narrated by funk bass legend Bootsy Collins. On Friday, Silk Sonic released the tracklist for the album. As of now, Thundercat and Bootsy are the only confirmed guests. (There have been rumored that Donald Glover and Ariana Grande will be on the album.)

In an interview with Rolling Stone done over the summer, the pair talked about the album’s creation at length, revealing that the project likely wouldn’t have happened if the pandemic didn’t occur.

“I’m not sure we would have done it if it wasn’t for the pandemic,” .Paak said. “It was tragic for so many people, but Bruno would have probably been on the road, me too — but we had to be here.”

In related news, .Paak recently launched his own label, APESHIT, which, according to a press release, will be dedicated to propping up performers who are actual musicians, too.

“I wanted to start a label that sets fire to a new generation of artists,” .Paak said in the press release, sharing how he was inspired to start his own label after attending a number of live shows and noticing how few of the performers were actual musicians. “Where is the next generation that can play instruments?? I know they’re out there – don’t sell your instruments, this label wants to hear you!!”
