BMG is the new owner of the rights to more than 60 years of music written and performed by Tina Turner.

Tina Turner is the latest icon to offer the rights to her catalog to the highest bidder.

According to a press release, Turner has sold the entirety of her catalog (dating back more than 60 years,) along with the rights to her image, name, and likeness to BMG for an undisclosed sum. Though the precise pricetag has yet to be revealed, BMG confirms the purchase was their largest single-artist deal to date. Along with the aforementioned inclusions, the deal also covers Turner’s music publishing writer’s share and neighboring rights for ten solo studio albums, two live albums, two soundtracks, and five compilations, which have cumulatively sold more than 100 millions copies. Warner Music will remain the label for Turner’s catalog.

“Like any artist, the protection of my life’s work, my musical inheritance, is something personal. I am confident that with BMG and Warner Music my work is in professional and reliable hands,” said the singer in a statement. On behalf of BMG, the company’s CEO, Hartwig Masuch, offered his own comment on the deal. “Tina Turner’s musical journey has inspired hundreds of millions of people around the world and continues to reach new audiences,” Masuch said. “We are honored to take on the job of managing Tina Turner’s musical and commercial interests. It is a responsibility we take seriously and will pursue diligently. She is truly and simply, the best,” Masuch adds.

Turner established herself as a solo artist in the 1980s with a streak of hit albums and singles, wracking up 12 Grammys and two Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions. Earlier this year, Turner’s life and legacy was examined in the new documentary, TINA, which is streaming now on HBO Max.
