Bun B also recruited legendary Houston producer Cory Mo for the tribute.

Tuesday marked the one-year anniversary of the death of George Floyd. In honor of the Houston native’s life (and rap career, as a Screwed Up Click affiliate), Bun B released “This World,” a tribute track featuring a list of (primarily) Houston-born heavyweights. Underground production stalwart Cory Mo teamed up with Zaytoven to make the track, which features Trae the Truth, Big K.R.I.T., and Raheem DeVaughn.

“It’s been a year but what has changed?” Bun wrote on Instagram. “So the fight continues and we turn our pain into purpose.”

Trae the Truth shared a video of Floyd praising him for the work he did in his Houston community. “Today marks a year [since] they took you away,” he wrote. “Today I’m opening a computer lab and wifi park in your name in your apartments (Cuney Homes). It will assist seniors and children…you always told the world it was wrong for me being banned from radio, regardless I stayed focused…the other day God had bigger plans and displayed me to the world. Hope you got to see it.”

Trae was recently awarded the Change Maker Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. Fellow Houstonian Tina Knowles-Lawson presented the award, thanking Trae for his 2017 relief efforts during Hurricane Harvey.

“I said if I ever had a position, I’d be there for those in need,” he said in his acceptance speech. I’m one of those who represent the struggle of the less fortunate. And what I will say when it comes to change is it’s important, that’s why this award is so important to me. It’s important to change people’s lives, it’s important to change the thoughts of those who give up at times, and it’s important to change things that wasn’t designed for our best interest…. It’s time for us to change the narrative and control our own story.”
