“Commercials need sounds like this.”

Tyler, The Creator and Coca-Cola are unexpected collaborators on a new commercial.

Released by the soda giant and the producer this morning via Twitter, the lively two-minute ad spot features a shifty, footwork-friendly instrumental suite from Tyler. And per subsequent tweets, it appears the artist is fairly pleased with his first commercial score. “Drums are fucking hard the low end is shaking,” Tyler wrote. In another post, he thanked Coke for the opportunity, noting he “was like ehh idk but then [I] fucking ran with it. Commercials need sounds like this.”

And it’s a logical extension of the producer’s running collaborative streak. In 2020, Tyler took a victory lap after winning “Best Rap Album” for IGOR at the 63rd-Annual Grammy Awards by contributing verses to a number of superlative projects, including Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist‘s (also Grammy-nominated) Alfredo and Westside Gunn‘s Pray for Paris. This year, he’s off to just as strong of a start, teaming up with Brent Faiyaz on “Gravity” and Channel Tres on “fuego.”
