Fabolous is calling for a clarification of the Verzuz rules. On April 5, 2 Chainz posted a video to Instagram, challenging either Meek Mill or Fabolous to battle against him in the next installment of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s virtual competition series.

“Fab got some dope ass girl records, but I got them trap records,” Tity Boi said in the clip.

While Meek respectfully bowed out in the comments, Fabolous revealed his reasons for declining during a recent interview with The Breakfast Club.

“I didn’t like the 2 Chainz shit ‘cause I felt like he was kind of picking his battles,” the veteran rapper said on Monday’s episode (April 13). “Like, you can’t pick your fights.”

Instead, Fab named fellow Atlanta-bred mainstays, like Jeezy or Future, as potential opponents for 2 Chainz.

“They’re of your genre and kind of era,” he explained. “I just don’t like the pick-your-fights thing. It’s like you pick who you think — you might’ve even looked at your catalog and measured it up with theirs.”

“I don’t even think that’s my battle,” Fab continued. “One thing, for a battle, I think it needs to be an even playing field… I think his music is in a different direction than my music.”

However, there’s no love lost between the two.

“Chainz is my guy, too. We hang out, we talk… Maybe he’s in the house too much. He gettin’ bored,” Fabulous joked.

Last Wednesday (April 8), 2 Chainz claimed that his “Mercy” verse beat-out Big Sean, Kanye West and Pusha T. However, Sean later called out the T.R.U. leader and got him to admit the 2011 hit was a group effort.
