Despite the tour having the ‘NY State of Mind’ title, as of now, there are no dates in New York, as the closest stop will be in Camden, New Jersey. The tour comes just in time after Nas got his flowers earlier this month during his first Grammy performance. Although the rapper was nominated at the 2022 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album (King’s Disease II) and Best Rap Song (“Bath Salts” featuring DMX and JAY-Z), he didn’t win either nomination, last receiving a Grammy for Best Rap Album (King’s Disease) in 2021.
Also getting their flowers this year is Wu-Tang Clan, whose 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) has been archived into the US Library of Congress. The album is included in 25 recordings archived by the cultural institution this year, along with A Tribe Called Quest (Low End Theory) and Alicia Keys (Songs in A Minor).
“Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 album ‘Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’ would shape the sound of hardcore rap and reasserted the creative capacity of the East Coast rap scene,” the Library of Congress said about the album.
Exclusive pre-sale opens for the ‘NY State of Mind’ Tour begins today (April 19th) at 10 AM through Citi Entertainment Programm. General tickets go on sale Tuesday, April 26th at 10 AM local on Live Nation.
