Last January, up-and-coming Bronx rapper C Blu shot a cop and himself as they struggled over a stolen gun Blu was in possession of. Neither was seriously injured.
Even though the 16-year-old was a known Crip who was on probation for a prior gun case, the charges were dropped when New York City’s law department determined that the cop had no reason to approach Blu in the first place.
This angered the police.
“This absurd decision should outrage every New Yorker who wants to get illegal guns off our streets,” said NYPD Police Benevolent Association President Patrick J. Lynch. “There is no dispute that this individual was caught carrying an illegal gun for the second time. If perps like this face absolutely no consequences, even after shooting a cop, we have to ask: why bother sending us out to get the guns at all?”
Now the over-eager officer involved in the incident is catching heat from Blu’s fans.
“Look a this n*gga, aren’t you that n*gga from C Blu?” one said as the officer walked out of a row house.
