The Universal Hip Hop Museum and Mass Appeal have teamed up for a live YouTube benefit they’ve dubbed “Hip Hop Loves NY.”
Hosted by Video Music Box pioneer Ralph McDaniels, the event boasts performances from several Golden Era heroes, including Ice-T, Chuck D, Naughty By Nature, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shanté, N.O.R.E., Kurtis Blow and Special Ed.
Additionally, New York City radio legends Stretch & Bobbito, Sway Calloway, comedian Mike Epps and the inimitable Fab 5 Freddy will also be on deck to add some extra flavor to the packed lineup.
According to a Twitter post from the UHHM, all proceeds will go to New York-based healthcare workers as they continue to battle COVID-19 on the frontlines. New York City currently has more coronavirus cases than any other nation in the world. The latest report from the New York City’s Department of Health website states there are roughly 134,874 cases as of Tuesday (April 21).
The event takes place on Thursday (April 23) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST on YouTube.
