Ty Dolla $ign is known for his collaborations — so much that he even named his latest album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Going forward, the Los Angeles-bred musician has even bigger goals to put together entire projects for his favorite artists.

During an interview with Apple Music, Ebro Darden revealed he sees Ty$ in the zone of a modern day Quincy Jones, while referencing the legendary producer’s career of working on TV theme songs, producing music for Broadway and guiding Michael Jackson’s classic albums. Ty then revealed who he’d like to serve as a Quincy Jones figure to in the music industry.

“I was thinking about asking my fans, like after hearing this album and hearing what I did with this, who would y’all wanna hear me produce?” he said. “I didn’t ask the question yet, but now y’all here so, fill me in on who y’all wanna here, and I’ll be down for sure to go in on somebody’s album.”

He continued, “I would love to do a whole album with like YG for instance, or I would love to do a whole album with SZA and produce her whole stuff … she’s one of the hardest. It’s so many, I could produce so many. It’s just gonna take time for sure.”

Ty released his third studio album Featuring Ty Dolla Sign on October 23, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart with over 44,000 total album equivalent units in the first week. With a total of 25 songs, the project featured big names such as Kid Cudi, Post Malone, Kanye West, Quavo, Lil Durk, Nicki Minaj, Roddy Ricch, Future and Young Thug.

YG and Ty have collaborated numerous times over the years — most recently on the Gunna-assisted “Surgery” from the Compton-bred rapper’s My Life 4Hunnid album. They previously announced a collaborative tour for the U.K. in 2019, before both dates in London and Manchester were cancelled.

Speaking to Vulture in October, Ty revealed SZA used crystals in the studio to help create the perfect vibe for their collaborative single “Hit Different.”

“She had all these, like, crystals set up, and she wanted me to stand in the correct way to get the right energy,” he said. “I did it, and the hook came immediately.”

Released on September 4, the track was produced by Pharrell and Chad Hugo as The Neptunes and peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The music video currently has over 25 million YouTube views.
