Twitter is currently attempting to cancel both J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar — and on the Compton MC’s 33rd birthday no less. But it looks like all the hooting and hollering might’ve cost his fans Kendrick’s follow-up to 2017’s Pulitzer Prize-winning album DAMN.

On Wednesday (June 17), Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson Jr. responded to a comment from a fan urging him to “tell Kendrick it’s time for the real to return.”

He swiftly crushed any hope for his comeback with, “Nah. Niggas don’t appreciate it.”

Hip Hop fans have been clamoring for a new Kendrick album since the collector’s edition of DAMN. arrived in December 2017. Just last month, Top Dawg CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith providing an update on the project’s progress during an Instagram Live session and made it sound like K. Dot’s return was imminent.

“Stay patient,” he wrote in the comment section. “King Kendrick will return soon.”

Kendrick Lamar Joins NBA Stars At Compton George Floyd Protest

Kendrick found himself caught up in Twitter’s outrage over his perceived silence on police brutality following Tuesday night’s (June 16) release of Cole’s new single “Snow On Tha Bluff.” While Kendrick is never active on social media, many people found his silence troubling.

But the Grammy Award-winning MC has spotted on the frontlines at protests around his hometown of Compton as recently as June 7. Cole also participated in a protest in his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina late last month, just days after the police killing of 46-year-old Black man George Floyd.
