Houston, TX – Trae Tha Truth has provided aid to the family of Vanessa Guillen, a Fort Hood Army specialist who was brutally killed and dismembered. The veteran rapper met with Guillen’s sisters at Taqueria del Sol in Houston and provided them with a $30,000 check on Wednesday (August 12).

“It means a lot anytime you’re able to take the stress off somebody, even for a moment, knowing that they’ll be going through this for a lifetime,” Trae said, according to The Houston Chronicle. “I wanted to let them know they’re not by themselves.”

The victim’s older sister Mayra Guillén noted Trae, who is well-known for his activism in the Houston community, has been supporting the family since the solider’s death.

“Trae has been there for me and it means a lot,” she said.

Guillén disappeared from the Fort Hood Army post in Killeen, Texas on April 22. Her remains were discovered in a shallow grave on June 30.

A federal affidavit alleged Aaron David Robinson, a fellow soldier, beat Guillen to death with a hammer then dismembered and burned her body. A woman named Cecily Anne Aguilar was accused of helping him dispose of the body.

Robinson shot and killed himself after being confronted by Killeen authorities on July 1. Aguilar was arrested for second-degree felony tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse and is awaiting trial.
