On his podcast It Is What It Is, Mase recalled that Big L tried to have him robbed twice.

The two Harlem rappers had beefed in the late 90s over lyric biting and women.

Mase said the second robbery occurred when he was hanging out on Lenox Street with his childhood friend, spectacularly named NBA player God Shamgod.

“A Spanish n*gga just run out of nowhere like, ‘Yo give it, give it up, n*gga, I’mma kill both of y’all n*ggas,’ Mase recalled.

Mase did give up his Rolex.  Luckily, the cops arrived soon after, arrested the Spanish gentleman, and returned the watch.

If anyone thinks he was capping, there is an actual video of the arrest going down.  [Jump to three minutes.]

Big L was killed in a Harlem driveby in 1999 at the age of 24.

Despite knowing L tried to rob him multiple times, Mase still considers him a “brother.
