Tekashi 6ix9ine has delivered a new video for “TROLLZ,” his collaborative single with Nicki Minaj. The track serves as the follow-up to “GOOBA,” his first offering since getting out of federal prison in April. Of course, its mere existence was met with a healthy amount of backlash.

Nicki faced plenty of criticisms for again agreeing to work with someone who has a reputation like 6ix9ine. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance and in 2018, the 24-year-old was arrested on racketeering charges. In exchange for a lighter sentence, he agreed to cooperate with the feds, promptly earning the nickname “Snitch9ine.”

Nevertheless, the rainbow-loving rapper is apparently intent on resuming his lucrative rap career and has a decent head start. “GOOBA” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, broke a YouTube record for most views in a 24-hour period and currently sits at over 323 million YouTube views.

Like it or not, another Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj collaboration is on the way. On Wednesday (June 10), the official single art for “TROLLZ” appeared on Nicki’s official website along with the release date, several merch bundles and “TROLLZ” clothing.

The song marks the follow-up to 6ix9ine’s comeback song “GOOBA,” which he released last month. It’s also the first collaboration between the two polarizing rappers since 2018’s “FEFE.”

Not long after the video for the track dropped, 6ix9ine and his ex-manager Kifano “Shotti” were arrested on racketeering charges. He almost immediately agreed to cooperate with the feds in an effort to take down the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods and receive a lighter sentence. In the process, he earned the nickname “Snitch9ine.”

After a dramatic trial and anticlimactic sentencing, 6ix9ine was granted a compassionate release from prison in April after a judge deemed his asthmatic condition made him more susceptible to the coronavirus.

Since then, it’s been business as usual for the 24-year-old — trolling, trolling and more trolling. But despite his social media antics and soiled reputation, “GOOBA” performed extremely well. It broke a YouTube record for the most views in a 24-hours period and currently sits at over 315 million views. The song debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“TROLLZ” is expected to arrive on Friday (June 12).
