Los Angeles, CA – Based on his track record for his outspoken mentality, whenever Russ has something to say about any of his peers in the Hip Hop industry, it’s typically highly opinionated and often critical of said artist. However, in an interview with The Rap Pack podcast last week, the Shake The World rapper seemingly gave Travis Scott his flowers for his innovation in the game.

Per usual, Russ had a lot to say about a number of topics — among them, his viewpoint of self-destructive ideologies within Hip Hop, longevity,  and his thoughts on the leaders in this new generation of Hip Hop.

Around the 10-minute mark, Russ gets candid, sharing that he believes Drake, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar are the biggest rappers in the game right now, in addition to his feelings that Travis Scott will lead the forthcoming shift in Hip Hop.

“Well, I’ll tell you the inevitable — the pioneer in the shift is Travis Scott,” he began.

“Because if time isn’t taken, Travis Scott will outsell one of the big three because the fanbase is that huge,” he declared.

He went on to say that though La Flame does make “fire music” he’s not the type of artist people expect to spit a “four-minute Funk Flex freestyle” and that it’s up to artists like himself, J.I.D. and YBN Cordae to pick up the slack within those regards.

In a sense, the comment could be perceived as backhanded, but still more rooted in polite conversation than when he told Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schultz Post Malone was guilty of appropriating black culture on the Brilliant Ideas podcast back in February.
