Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia City Council has unanimously voted to completely ban R. Kelly from the City of Brotherly Love. Councilwoman Helen Gym revealed the information final week Twitter.
“Today our decision honoring the #MuteRKelly motion handed in @PHLCouncil,” Gym wrote. “Philly stands with survivors.”
The accompanying graphic reads: “We reject a system that silences black ladies and accepts black ache. We consider survivors. R. Kelly is just not welcome in Philadelphia.”

Following Lifetime’s eye-opening Surviving R. Kelly documentary, the #MuteRKelly motion appeared to select up steam. Although the initiative’s origins are in Atlanta, it’s grow to be a nationwide pattern within the wake of the alleged victims’ harrowing accounts.
“This decision is about essentially stating a public declaration that R. Kelly and sexual predators like him don’t belong in a public sphere, with public help,” Gym informed CBS Philly. “This symbolic act of solidarity places all sexual predators on discover.”
Despite the mounting proof towards the R&B star, Kelly maintains his innocence.
