As Washington D.C. rapper Rock Abruham preps his forthcoming album From The Mud, he’s shared the inaugural single “Heel” featuring Quelle Chris. The track is a substantial sliver of what to expect from the project, which was recorded during a “carefree period of beer drinking and isolation,” according to the press release.

With the release of the album, Rock plans to close previous life chapters as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Throughout the project, he chronicles the life of a young, promising DMV artist who’s fighting for every chance to learn and showcase his natural talent.

Other themes include his childhood, the sacrifices Abruham has made, a lack of mental health awareness, abuse and criminal activities.

From The Mud follows 2018’s Thank You Very Much and is expected to arrive on October 9.
