As Washington D.C. rapper Rock Abruham preps his forthcoming album From The Mud, he’s shared the inaugural single “Heel” featuring Quelle Chris. The track is a substantial sliver of what to expect from the project, which was recorded during a “carefree period of beer drinking and isolation,” according to the press release.

With the release of the album, Rock plans to close previous life chapters as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Throughout the project, he chronicles the life of a young, promising DMV artist who’s fighting for every chance to learn and showcase his natural talent.

Other themes include his childhood, the sacrifices Abruham has made, a lack of mental health awareness, abuse and criminal activities.

From The Mud follows 2018’s Thank You Very Much and is expected to arrive on October 9.

Until then, check out “Heel” above and cop it here.
