Clipse is possibly making moves in 2020. The Virginia Beach duo — comprised of brothers Gene “No Malice” Thornton and Terrence “Pusha T” Thornton — haven’t put an album out since 2009’s Til The Casket Drops, but rumors of a long awaited reunion have been bubbling for years.

They heated up in October 2018 when the duo reunited for Kanye West’s Jesus Is King album as well as one of Ye’s Sunday Service events.

Now, it looks like Clipse fans might actually get what they’ve been waiting for — a new album. On Wednesday (January 1), the Re-Up Records Instagram account shared a photo of No Malice and Pusha as kids. The caption read, “NEW YEAR. NEW CLIPSE ALBUM. 2020 PYREX VISION.”

In the comment section, Pusha replied, “Wishful thinking … but see y’all at Something In The Water for sure,” softening the excitement.

Formed in 1992, Clipse has released three studio albums, beginning with 2002’s Lord Willin, which featured production from The Neptunes. Their collaborative relationship continued with 2006’s Hell Hath No Fury and the aforementioned Til The Casket Drops. However, the group dissolved not long after and No Malice and Pusha went on to pursue their own solo careers.

During a 2014 interview with CNN, Pusha explained how he found out his brother decided to leave the group and dedicate his life to Jesus.

“I came to him and I was like, ‘Man, I got these ideas,’” he said. “‘I got these beats I want you to check out.’ He was like, ‘I’m not doing another Clipse album right now.’ Wow. Now that was hard. That was hard.”

But in 2016, they talked about reuniting in an interview with GQ, but Push said it was ultimately up to his brother.

“It would be an amazing album,” Pusha said.“We could totally conquer the world.”

2020 just might be their year.
