The posthumous album from Gift of Gab is out on September 17th via Nature Sounds.

Prior to his tragic passing, Gift of Gab had just completed what would have been his fourth solo studio album.

And now, it appears the project has been cleared for landing. According to a press release, Gab’s new album, Inspiration Somehow, will arrive on September 17th via Nature Sounds. Announced with the jagged lead single, “Vice Grip,” the album is entirely produced by fellow Bay Area native and longtime collaborator, Nick Andre.

“‘Vice Grip’ isn’t the type of beat that I would normally send Gab, but I’m glad I did because he absolutely destroyed it in my opinion,” Andre said in a statement. “I remember him hitting me back on the phone shortly after I shared the beat with him saying that he was about halfway done writing to it and asked if he could come over the following day after dialysis to record it,” the producer recalled. “I’ve never met anyone that had that same kind of drive and passion for what he did as Gab did.”

Born Timothy Jerome Parker, Gift of Gab was one half of the influential Bay Area rap duo, Blackalicious. Known for dense writing and a propulsive delivery, Gab and partner, Chief Xcel, dropped four albums under the Blackalicious banner. Their final project together, Imani Vol. 1, was released in 2015. A follow-up has been teased, but a proper release date has yet to be unveiled.
